Bailey Russell delivered a dominant scoring performance Friday morning as Fairland of Ohio pulled away early and cruised to an 83 to 57 victory over Ramsay of Alabama in the United Bank Division consolation game of the 2025 Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Fairland seized control from the opening quarter, building a 23 to 15 lead and never looking back. The Dragons steadily widened the margin behind aggressive defense and balanced scoring, taking a 41 to 23 advantage into halftime before erupting for 33 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Russell was nearly unstoppable, finishing with a game high 33 points on 12 of 19 shooting, including seven three pointers. Addison Godby added a strong all around performance with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks, while Addyson Cornell chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds. Isa Taliaferro orchestrated the offense with 11 assists as Fairland finished with 23 team assists.
Fairland dominated the interior and transition game, outscoring Ramsay 44 to 14 in the paint and posting a decisive 18 to 4 advantage in fast break points. The Dragons also capitalized on Ramsay turnovers, turning them into 28 points while forcing 22 turnovers on the defensive end.
Ramsay was led by Kayden May, who scored 18 points and knocked down five three pointers. Kaylee Fenderson added 10 points, and McKenzie Davis chipped in 9 points. Despite strong perimeter shooting, Ramsay struggled to generate consistent offense inside, shooting just 31.5 percent from the field for the game.
Fairland improved its record to 7 and 1 with the win and controlled the game for nearly the entire contest, leading for more than 30 minutes and building a lead as large as 37 points in the fourth quarter.
The Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational continues throughout the weekend with games split between the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the John Rhodes Sports Center.
