Our Savior Lutheran Outlasts Prince George’s in OT Thriller at Beach Ball Classic
MYRTLE BEACH, SC — When it mattered most, Our Savior Lutheran (NY) stepped up big. In a gritty, seesaw battle that had five ties and seven lead changes, the Falcons edged Prince George’s Christian Academy (MD) 62-59 in overtime in the Prep Division Consolation Bracket at the Beach Ball Classic.
Trailing by 12 late in the fourth quarter, Our Savior Lutheran found their rhythm, closing regulation on a furious 13-1 run fueled by their aggressive defense and timely shooting. Tyler Green, who hit all four of his three-point attempts, drilled a clutch triple to send the game into overtime.
Green finished with 12 points, while LJ Saunders led the Falcons with 14 points and eight rebounds, showing poise at the free-throw line by hitting six of seven attempts. Jaydan Almonor anchored the inside with eight points and nine rebounds, while Jacob Evans provided energy off the bench, scoring seven and grabbing six boards.
Prince George’s (10-5) leaned on Cameron Mise’s 14 points and six rebounds, while Camron Kent added 13 points, including four three-pointers. Neiko Mundey contributed 11 points and four steals, but foul trouble and turnovers derailed the Eagles late.
The first half was a tale of two teams finding their footing. Prince George’s struggled to shoot, hitting just 23.1% from the field in the first half. Our Savior Lutheran capitalized, taking a 28-15 lead into the locker room.
But Prince George’s came roaring back in the third quarter, outscoring the Falcons 21-7 behind Kent’s sharp shooting and fast-break buckets from Kendall Washington. The Eagles carried momentum into the fourth, building a 12-point lead with just under four minutes left.
Then, the Falcons flipped the switch and pushed hard to tie the game and force overtime.
Overtime saw both teams trade blows before Green sank another three-pointer to give Our Savior Lutheran the final lead. The Falcons held on with stout defense, forcing a missed game-tying attempt by Mundey in the final seconds.
The win moves Our Savior Lutheran forward in the consolation bracket, while Prince George’s looks to regroup. Both teams put on a show, but the Falcons’ resilience and ability to execute in crunch time made the difference.
