Hebron stays unbeaten with 64 to 44 win over South Pointe in Beach Ball Classic opener
MYRTLE BEACH, SC
Hebron High School of Georgia continued its strong start to the season Friday afternoon, pulling away from South Pointe of South Carolina for a 64 to 44 victory in the opening round of the 2025 Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational United Bank Division at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Hebron set the tone early, taking a 14 to 7 lead after the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game. South Pointe briefly held a five point advantage midway through the opening period, but Hebron responded with steady defense and a dominant presence in the paint to reclaim momentum.
South Pointe struggled to find a consistent rhythm offensively, shooting just 25.8 percent from the field for the game. Kaleigh Lucas led the Stallions with 15 points and 5 assists, while Ja’Nyia Cunningham battled inside for 9 points and a game high 13 rebounds. Despite a strong third quarter where South Pointe scored 22 points, the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Hebron answered every run with balanced scoring and depth. Gabby Minus led all scorers with 19 points, attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line. Kobi Barnes added 13 points, 10 rebounds, and an impressive 5 blocks, while Alanna Beckham chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Hebron’s bench made a significant impact, outscoring South Pointe’s reserves 30 to 6.
The Lady Hawks dominated the interior, outscoring South Pointe 42 to 20 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 54 to 33. Hebron also capitalized at the free throw line, converting 18 of 25 attempts, including 14 in the second half to extend the lead.
Hebron improved to 8 and 0 on the season with the win and advanced in the United Bank Division bracket. South Pointe fell to 7 and 2 but showed resilience and effort against a deep and physical Hebron squad.
The Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational continues throughout the weekend with games split between the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the John Rhodes Sports Center.
