
South Pointe pulled away early and never looked back, defeating First Baptist 87–52 on Saturday morning in the consolation game of the Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational United Bank Division at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The Lady Stallions opened the game with a dominant first quarter, outscoring First Baptist 31–14, and led for more than 31 minutes of game time. South Pointe consistently controlled the paint and the glass, building its lead to as many as 42 points late in the fourth quarter.
Kaleigh Lucas led all scorers with 23 points for South Pointe, adding six assists and four steals. Ja’Nyia Cunningham delivered a strong interior performance with 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting and 12 rebounds. Trayln Phillips added 20 points and six rebounds, while Ayescia Coleman contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds off the bench.
South Pointe finished with a 50–33 rebounding advantage and scored 56 points in the paint. The Stallions also capitalized on turnovers, converting 35 points off First Baptist miscues and adding 27 second-chance points.
First Baptist was led by Gabby Moore with 15 points and two steals. Dyarri Braddick posted 14 points and nine rebounds, while Maddy Pojani added 11 points. The Hurricanes shot 46.4 percent in the first half but were held to 23.1 percent shooting after halftime as South Pointe’s defensive pressure intensified.
The win closed out consolation play for South Pointe in the United Bank Division, while First Baptist concluded its Beach Ball Classic run with a resilient effort against one of the tournament’s more physical teams.
