Shadow Mountain (AZ), playing short-haneded without three players, defeated Scott County (KY) 67-47 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the 2014 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.
Shadow Mountain (9-2; Phoenix, AZ), playing without injured Michael Bibby, Jordan Pace and Nate Hollins, trailed by two points briefly three times in the first half before pulling away for a 27-21 advantage at halftime. In the second half, it was all Matadors as they stretched the lead to as many as 20 points.
Shadow Mountain was led by JJ Rhymes’ 18 points, while Craig Randall added 17 points for the Matadors . Scott County (4-4; Georgetown, KY) was paced by Jamel Banks with 14 points.
