Christ Church (SC) advanced to the fifth place game of the 2014 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational with a 54-44 victory over William Fleming (VA).
Christ Church (7-1; Greenville, SC) built a 25-14 lead at halftime and held a 10-point advantage at 31-21 with 11:05 remaining in the contest. William Fleming (4-2; Roanoke, VA) slowly chipped away at the lead and closed the gap to just four points at 46-42 on a pair of free throws by Dasmine Kasey. That is as close as the Colonels could get as Christ Church connected on 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the final two minutes of play.
Christ Church was led by Shayla Bennett’s 21 points, nine rebounds and seven steals. Bailey Breazeale addd 15 points and six boards for the Cavaliers.
Dasmine Kasey came off of the bench to lead William Fleming with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
