Saint Francis (Alpharetta, GA) defeated Miami (FL) Senior 59-45 in the opening round of the 2017 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational.
TURNING POINT: After a first half that saw the game tied four times and the lead change seven more, Saint Francis scored the first five points of the second half and went on to a 17-6 run to open a 44-33 advantage with 7:47 to play. The Knights went on to lead by as many as 17 points in the second half.
SAINT FRANCIS LEADERS: The trio of Jordan Isaacs, Olivia Swanston and Arynn Eady led a balanced Knights’ attack with 10 points each. Isaacs added a team-high nine rebounds.
MIAMI SENIOR LEADERS: The Stingarees were led with 15 points by Jannifer Rodriguez while teammate Colleen Bucknor grabbed a game-high 10 boards.
RECORDS: Saint Francis 6-2. Miami Senior 6-1.
WHAT’S NEXT: Saint Francis advances to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the Northwest Guilford (NC) and Socastee (SC) opening round matchup on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. Miami Senior falls into the consolation bracket to face the loser of that same contest on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m.
