St. Mary’s Catholic (CD) defeated Myrtle Beach (SC) 45-39 to take home third place in the 2015 Crescom Bank Holiday Invitational.
Myrtle Beach (11-2) scored the first six points of the game and held the advantage until the 6:21 mark of the opening half when St. Mary’s (39-2; Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) Mackenzie Trpcic connected on a long 3-poingt field goal and tie the game at 14-14. After trading baskets, St. Mary’s took the lead for good on a 3-point basket by Julia Hanaka at th e5:24 mark and went on to lead 26-21 at the break.
The second half saw St. Mary’s dominate much of the play as the Crusaders built leads as large as 10 points late in the contest.
Trpcic, who has committed to play collegiately at Albany, posted a game-high 21 points to lead St. Mary’s. Myrtle Beach was led with 12 points by Nia Sumpter.
