John Rhodes, Executive Director of the Beach Ball Classic, and Mayor of Myrtle Beach, will be among three award winners who will be honored by the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame during Monday’s induction ceremony.
Rhodes was named winner of the Willie Jeffries Ambassador Award recognizing his commitment and dedication to the Beach Ball Classic.
In addition to Rhodes, awards will be bestowed upon longtime Post & Courier sports columnist, Ken Burger who will receive the Herman Helms Media Excellence Award, and former South Carolina two-sport star, Jeff Grantz, who will receive the Dom Fusci Leadership in Action Award.
The three will be honored alongside the hall’s latest class, which includes South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner and the late Jim Phillips, who served as Clemson’s play-by-play voice for 36 years.
The awards will be presented Monday, May 13 at the South Carolina Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony that will be held at the Metropolitan Convention Center in downtown Columbia.
