The hometown team made good in the opening round of the 2015 Crescem Bank Holiday Invitational as Myrtle Beach (SC) scored an impressive 57-52 victory over Christ the King (Middle Village, NY) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Myrtle Beach (10-0) held a 27-19 advantage at halftime and a 51-40 lead with just 3:13 remaining in the contest. Christ the King (3-2) scored nine unanswered points to close the gap to just 51-49 on Sydney Zambrotta’s 3-pointer with 1:19 on the clock. Myrtle Beach scored back to back buckets before Zambrotta connected on another long trey to cut the lead to just three at 55-52 with 25 seconds to play. Kiana Adderton sealed the victory with a pair of free throws in the closing seconds.
Myrtle Beach was led with 15 points each by Keocia Walker and Kiana Adderton while Nia Sumpter grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Zambrotta tallied 21 points and had six steals to lead Christ the King.
