Jaleek Felton, one of the nation’s top sophomores, scored 51 points to lead Mullins (SC) past Myrtle Beach (SC) 83-74 ina consolation bracket game of the 2014 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Felton, who played against Franklin’s (OH) Luke Kennard when the Duke signee broke the BBC single game record with 52 points less than 19 hours earlier, tallied 39 of his 51 points in the second half. Felton connected on 15-of-27 from the field, including 7-of-16 from behind the 3-point arc, and was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line. Fabian Carroll added 15 points for Mullins (5-6).
Myrtle Beach (3-7) was paced by Malik Waring’s 22 points and 13 rebounds and Bryce Schneider’s 20 points.
