Behind a balanced effort and timely defense, Camden pulled away late to defeat Gray Collegiate 42 to 35 on Monday morning, capturing the Sylvia Hatchell Division championship at the 2025 Beach Ball Classic Holiday Invitational at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Gray Collegiate struck first and controlled much of the opening half, building an early lead behind Aneya Britt’s strong work on the glass and efficient scoring. Britt finished with a game high 17 points and 15 rebounds, helping Gray take a 15 to 10 advantage after one quarter and an eight point cushion midway through the second.

Camden responded with patience and defensive pressure, trimming the deficit before halftime and then seizing momentum in the second half. The Bulldogs held Gray to just four field goals after the break, forcing tough shots and capitalizing on second chance opportunities.

Ayona Alexander led Camden with 14 points and 11 rebounds, controlling the paint at both ends. Jillian Rush added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Braylin Mungo chipped in eight points and steady ball handling as Camden methodically erased the deficit.

The game remained tight throughout the third quarter, with the score tied five times overall. Camden finally took control in the fourth, outscoring Gray 11 to 8 and building an eight point lead in the final minute. Gray’s last field goal came with just over six minutes remaining, as Camden’s defense closed the door down the stretch.

Kiley Freeman contributed nine points and three assists for Gray Collegiate, but the Lions struggled offensively in the second half, shooting just 18 percent after intermission.

With the victory, Camden completed an unbeaten run through the tournament and improved to 11 and 0 on the season, securing the Sylvia Hatchell Division championship. Gray Collegiate finished as runner up and moved to 8 and 4 overall after a strong showing in Myrtle Beach.
