Christ Presbyterian defeated Myrtle Beach 71-63 in a consolation bracket game of the 2012 Beach Ball Classic.
After a first half that saw the two teams battle to 16 lead changes and four ties, Christ Presbyterian (Nashville, TN; 12-2) scored the first five points of the second half to open a 35-28 advantage. The Lions went on to lead by as many as 12 in the closing minutes.
Christ Presbyterian was led by Jalen Lindsey’s 22 points as he went 10-for-18 from the field. Braxton Blackwell connected on 9-of-13 from the field to add 19 points for the Lions. Christ Presbyterian connected on 53.4 percent from the field, including a 60.7 field goal percentage in the second half when the Lions pulled away for the victory.
Myrtle Beach (SC; 6-6) was paced by Nolin Butler’s 14 points and four assists. Brooks Swanson came off of the bench to hit all three of his 3-pointers and tallied 11 points for the Seahawks. Myrtle Beach connected on 52.9 percent from behind the 3-point arc (9-of-17) to tie for ninth in the BBC record book. The Seahawks tied J.L. Mann’s (SC) 3-point field goal percentage with the same totals against Socastee (SC) in the 2004 BBC. The record of 64.7 percent (11-of-17) is held by Monsignor Pace (FL) from the 2007 BBC against Cherokee (GA).
