Parkersburg (WV) South used a pressure defense to run past Riverside (NC) 76-57 in the opening round of the 2014 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational.
Parkereburg (3-0) forced Riverside (3-2; Williamston, NC) into 25 turnovers and held a 37-0 advantage in scoring off of the bench in route to the easy win. The Patriots built leads as large as 19 points in the opening half and 26 in the second half in the lopsided win.
Keya Bartlett led Parkersburg South with a game-high 28 points. Anna Hayton came off of the bench to post a double-double for the Patriots with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Riverside was paced by a trio in double figures, led by Takwana Bland’s 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kayla Jones posted 17 points and Sunterea Highsmith added 16 points for the Knights.
