Bishop Gorman (NV) defeated Sagemont (FL) 64-49 to advance to the Championship game of the 2014 Beach Ball Classic. The Gaels, champions of the 2009 BBC, will face Franklin (OH) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night for the title.
Bishop Gorman (12-3; Las Vegas, NV) trailed briefly in the first half before pulling away and leading by as many as 16 points in the second half. Sagemont (11-3; Weston, FL) cut the Gaels’ lead to five points at 51-46 on Tyler Polley’s short jumper with 4:07 to play. Bishop Gorman responded with an 11-0 run to secure its spot in the title game. Sagemont connected on just one of its last 11 shots from the field after cutting the lead to five.
Bishop Gorman was led by a balanced offensive attack as four players finished in double figures. Nick Blair led the way with 14 points, Richie Thornton and Chase Jeter added 13 points each, and Stephen Zimmerman tallied 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Keyshawn Evans led Sagemont with 16 points while Prince Ali added 14 points for the Lions.
