Bishop Gorman defeated St. Rita of Cascia 67-58 to advance to the fifth place game of the 2012 Beach Ball Classic. The Gaels will face Rufus King (Milwaukee, WI) for fifth place.
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV; 13-2) used a late 8-0 run to break a tied game and take the lead for good. After seven ties and three lead changes, the Gaels took a 57-49 lead with their run from the 7:21 mark of the second half to the 2:15 mark. During the stretch, five different players scored for Bishop Gorman.
The Gaels were led in scoring by Rashad Muhammad’s 25 points as he connected on 10-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-6 from behind the 3-point arc. Noah Robotham chipped in 15 points and six assists for the Gaels.
St. Rita (Chicago, IL; 8-4) was paced by Dominique Matthews’ 22 points and six boards.
