Norcross (GA) took control of the game with a late first half surge and cruised to an 87-48 victory over Mullins (SC) to advance to the semifinal round of the consolation bracket of the 2013 Beach Ball Classic.
Trailing 12-11 with 10:01 remaining in the opening half, Norcross (8-4) closed the half with a 29-10 run to open an 18 point advantage at the break. Norcross connected on nearly 56 percent (15-27) from the field in the opening half and controlled the paint in putting Mullins away, outscoring the Auctioneers 20-4 down low. Norcross went on to build leads as large as 39 in the second half.
Norcross was led by A.J. Farrar as he came off of the bench to hit 6-of-9 shots, including three -point baskets, for 15 points. Mullins (7-5) was led by Alex Brown’s 24 points and eight rebounds and Jalek Felton’s 17 points.
