After a slow start in an early morning contest at the 2012 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational, Archbishop Carroll (Radnor, PA) got hot in the second half to score a 46-26 victory over Crestwood (Sumter, SC).
Archbishop Carroll (2-1) missed its first 13 shots from behind the 3-point arc, including 0-for-10 in the first half, before getting the late wake-up call. The Patriots connected on their next three bombs and went on to hit five of its last nine shots from beyond the arc.
While Archbishop’s Carroll’s offense sputtered early, its defense was awake the entire 32 minutes as the Patriots forced Crestwood (6-3) into 15 turnovers and held the Knights to just 21.9 percent from the field.
Sarah Curran led Archbishop Carroll with 18 points and nine rebounds. Point guard Kristie Costantino posted 11 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals per game.
Crestwood was paced by Faniquia Lewis’ 11 points, while Crystal Bennett came off of the bench to gram nine rebounds.
