Westchester (CA) advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 54-44 victory over North Mecklenburg (NC) in the opening round of the 2018 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.
TURNING POINT: After holding a slim 25-23 lead at the half, used a 9-0 run midway through the second half to regain the lead and open an advantage that it would not relinquish. Trailing 40-39 with 5:15 on the clock, Westchester opened a 48-30 lead with the run with just 2:40 remaining.
WESTCHESTER STAT LEADERS: Jordan Brinson led the way for the Comets with 14 points and eight rebounds while Kaelen Allen added 13 points.
NORTH MECKLENBURG STAT LEADERS: Chris Ford paced the Vikings with 15 points.
