St. Edward (OH) scored early and often in a 94-42 victory over Myrtle Beach (SC) in the opening round of the 2014 Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.
St. Edward (4-1; Lakewood, OH) built a double digit advantage less than halfway through the opening half and built leads as large as 45 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. The Eagles forced Myrtle Beach into 25 turnovers and scored 45 points off of those Myrtle Beach (3-6) miscues. St. Edward also dominated teh paint by outrebounding Myrtle Beach 42-31 and scoring 58 of its 94 points in the paint.
Kipper Nichols led St. Edward with 21 points and six steals in just 20 minutes of action. Matthew Gonzalez came in off of the bench for the Eagles to connect on 5-of-6 shots from the field for 11 points.
Myrtle Beach was led by Adam Zam’s 11 points.
