Seton Hall Prep (NJ) defeated St. James (SC) 78-41 to advance to the quartefinal round of the 35th Annual Beach Ball Classic.
Seton Hall Prep (4-0; West Orange, NJ) never trailed after opening the game by scoring the first six points. The Pirates held an 11-6 advantage when St. James’ Jordan Fields connected on his third 3-point basket in the opening minutes to close the gap to 11-9 with 9:48 on the clock. Seton Hall Prep then got hot from the outside, hitting 11-of-22 shots from the field in the final 8:36, as the Pirates outscored St. James (4-4; Murrells Inlet, SC) 26-6 over that stretch to take a 37-15 lead at halftime.
Seton Hall Prep went on to lead by as many as 40 in the second half. Zach Keller, who connected on 9-of-14 shots from the field, led the Pirates with 22 points, while teammate Stephen Ferraro added 16 points and five steals.
Jackson Hurston paced St. James with 11 points.
