Pace (5-6, Atlanta, GA) used a 14-0 run midway through the first half to blow open a close game and cruise to a 63-36 victory over McQuaid Jesuit (5-2, Rochester, NY).
Trailing 8-6 with 8:50 on the clock in the first half, Pace’s Isaiah Kelly started the run with a layup to tie the score. The run ended with 3:25 on the clock as Zack Leven gave the Knights a 20-8 cushion. Pace went on to lead 28-10 at the half and by as many as 31 in the second half.
Duke signee and the nation’s number one player Wendell Carter led Pace with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Kelly added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Knights.
McQuaid Jesuit was led by Anthony Iglesia’s 17 points.
