Marietta (GA) led by as many as 19 before having to hold off Dreher (SC) for a 62-55 victory in a consolation bracket game of the 2014 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational.
Marietta (7-6) held its largest lead at 53-34 with 11:57 to play before Dreher (5-3; Columbia, SC) stormed back to close the gap to just four points. Dreher used a 19-4 run to pull the score to 57-53 with 5:22 to play but could get no closer as they managed to connect on just 1-of-6 shots from the field and committed a pair of turnovers down the stretch.
Taylor Smith led four Marietta players in double figures with 15 points. Tatiana Foster added 14 points, Deaja Morton posted 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Kentisha Edwards tallied 10 points off of the bench for Marietta.
The inside dynamic duo of Jaelynn Murray and Jhilieya Dunlap led Dreher as they combined for 40 points and 30 rebounds. Murray posted 17 points and 18 boards while Dunlap recorded 23 points and 12 boards. Dunlap also added six blocked shots.
