McEachern led by six points with just over a minute to play and held off South Shore for a 49-47 opening round victory in the 2018 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
TURNING POINT: Trailing 45-33 with 3:57 to play in the second half, South Shore made things very interesting by closing the gap to one point with 16 seconds on the clock. Shcira Fowles connected ion a trey to pull South Shore to within one point at 48-47 with just 16 seconds to play. Denim DeShields connected on the first of two free throws for McEachern to leave the door open with eight seconds to play. South Shore fumbled the inbounds pass and then failed to get off a shot as the buzzer sounded.
McEACHERN STAT LEADERS: Denim DeShields led all scorers with 22 points. Caelan Ellis came off of the bench to add 13 points for the Indians.
SOUTH SHORE STAT LEADERS: Lysha De Los Santos paced the Vikings with 12 points while teammate Danaijah Williams added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
