Orangeburg-Wilkinson (Orangeburg, SC) advanced into the semifinal round of the 201 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational with a 63-40 victory over St. Joseph Central Catholic (Huntington, WV). The Bruins will face Miami (FL) Senior for a chance to play for the title.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson (7-0) took the lead for good less than five minutes into the contest and went on to lead by as many as 24 in the second half. The Bruins connected on 55.6 percent (25-45) from the field for the game, while St. Joseph (5-2) connected on just 25 percent (13-52). The Fighting Irish, which made a living behind the 3-point arc in their opener on Tuesday, connected on just 5-of-29 from beyond the arc against a very active Bruins defense.
Dejoria Howard led Orangeburg-Wilkinson with 14 points and 22 rebounds, tying her for the third most rebounds in a game in tournament history. The Bruins outrebounded St. Joseph 50-14. Vondria Ritter led all scorers with 18 points for the Bruins.
St. Joseph was paced with 12 points each by Griffin Dempsey and Mychal Johnson.
