Dorman (SC) advanced into the quarterfinal round with a 72-45 victory over Buchtel (OH) in an opening round game of the 39th Annual Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center.
STORY LINE: The story of the game came in the opening 16 minutes when Dorman forced Buchtel into 15 turnovers. The Cavaliers turned those miscues into 20 points off turnovers and took a 40-20 lead into the locker room. Dorman went on to lead by as many as 31 points in cruising to the opening round win.
BBC TOURNAMENT NOTE: Dorman’s Myles Tate dished out 10 assists to tie for 10th place on the all-time single game record list at the Beach Ball Classic. The record is 16 assists by Richie Farmer of Clay County (KY) back in 1987.
