Myrtle Beach, SC – December 30, 2023 – In a lopsided affair at the 2023 Beach Ball Classic, Canyon International Academy (AZ) showcased their superiority by defeating Uchenna Academy (Canada) with an emphatic 71-50 scoreline. The game, held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, saw Canyon improve their record to 6-8, while Uchenna dropped to 17-10.
The standout player for Canyon was Amier Ali, who came off the bench to score 16 points, shooting a perfect 7-7 from the field. The team’s 57.1% shooting efficiency was a key factor in their victory. Mayom Mayom also contributed significantly with 11 points and 4 rebounds, while Andrew Urosevic’s 4 assists were instrumental in facilitating the team’s offense.
Uchenna Academy struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game. Jordan Fisher led the team with 10 points, but their overall shooting percentage of 36.2% paled in comparison to Canyon’s prowess. Despite a spirited effort, Uchenna couldn’t match Canyon’s intensity or execution.
Canyon’s dominance was evident from the start, with a 23-8 lead in the first quarter. Their impressive 58% shooting in the first half set the tone for the rest of the game. Uchenna’s attempts to claw back in the second half were thwarted by Canyon’s consistent performance, maintaining a significant lead throughout.
