Bishop Loughlin (NY) scored a come-from-behind 68-62 victory over Madison Memorial (WI) to capture 3rd Place in the 2013 Beach Ball Classic.
Bishop Loughlin (6-2) trailed 49-44 with 6:12 to play when the Lions’ Darius James connected on a long 3-pointer and Michael Williams connected on a driving layup to knot the score at 49-49 with 5:42 to play. After trading baskets, Reggie Roemer connected on a 3-point basket to give Madison Memorial (7-3) a 54-51 lead with 4:42 to play.
The Lions responded with 10 unanswered points to take a 61-54 lead with 2:45 to play. Shareef Smith connected on consecutive layups for Madison Memorial to cut the deficit for the Spartans back to just three points with 1:55 to play. The teams traded a pair of baskets before Bishop Loughlin connected on 3-of-4 free throws to seal the victory in the final 12 seconds.
Michael Williams came off of the bench to lead Bishiop Loughlin with 17 points and five steals. Khadeen Carrington, the Lions all-time leading scorer, added 16 points.
Madison Memorial’s Darral Willis posted a double-double to lead all players with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
