Riverdale (TN), ranked #9 in the nation, scored a come-from-behind 55-52 victory over McEachern (GA) to advance to the semifinal round of the 2018 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
TURNING POINT: Trailing 52-50 with 2:36 to play in the game, Riverdale scored the final five points for the victory. Each of the points came one at a time as they were all earned from the charity stripe. Aislynn Hayes tied the game with a pair of free throws aith 2:31 to play. Hayes then gave Riverdale the lead when she hit one of two freebies with 1:54 to play. The final margin was secured on Jalyn Holcomb’s free throws with eight seconds remaining. Denim Deshield’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed the mark for McEachern.
RIVERDALE STAT LEADERS: The senior of the three Hayes sisters paced the Warriors as Aislynn Hayes posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Junrior Alasia Hayes posted 14 points and 14 rebounds, while their freshman sister Acacia scored 13 points.
McEACHERN STAT LEADERS: Sophomore standout Denim Deshields led the Indians with 13 points and three assists. Daelyn Craig grabbed 11 rebounds for McEachern.
