Comeback Moves Southeast Raleigh into Semifinals

Southeast Raleigh (NC)trailed by nine at half but came back for a 35-33 victory over Miami Senior (FL) to advance to the semifinal round of the 2018 CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

TURNING POINT:  Trailing 18-9 at the half, Southeast Raleigh opened the second half by scoring 13 unanswered points to take a 22-18 lead with 10:28 to play in the second half.  The Bulldogs went on to build hold a 28-23 lead with 8:09 to play before Miami Senior went on a 7-0 spurt to regain the lead at 30-28 with 5:07 to play.  Southeast Raleigh took the lead for good with 1:53 on the clock when Tamia Davis’ layup gave the Bulldogs a 32-21 lead.  Miami Senior’s Jeanine Scott , who connected on a buzzer beating 3-point basket to end the first half, had a game ending 3-point attempt hit the rim to end the game.

SOUTHEAST RALEIGH STAT LEADERS:  Jamia Hazell scored 13 points and had five steals to lead the Bulldogs.

MIAMI SENIOR STAT LEADERS:  Jeanine Scott led the Stingarees with nine points while Carla Colon came off of the bench to tally seven points.

RECORDS:  Southeast Raleigh 8-2, Miami Senior 7-1.
