St. Edward moved into the consolation bracket semifinal round with a 88-71 victory over Myrtle Beach.
St. Edward (4-3; Lakewood, OH) took a 49-43 lead after the first 16-minute half that saw the teams battle to four ties and a pair of lead changes. Both squads kept the nets hot in the opening half as St. Edward connected on 61.3 percent from the field and Myrtle beach (6-5; Myrtle Beach, SC) hit on 57.7 percent.
The second half proved to be a different story as the close game of the opening 16 minutes turned into the St. Edward show. The Eagles went on a 12-2 run to open the second half to take a commanding 61-45 advantage. St. Edward went on to lead by as many 24 points.
St. Edward was led by Mark Murray's 22 points. E.J. Goings paced Myrtle Beach with 22 points, while teammate Tramond Wilson added 21 points.
