Photo provided by Digitalmagicphoto.comIn a game where made baskets were at a premium, St. Augustine defeated St. Edward 52-46 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Beach Ball Classic.

It took 2:04 for St. Edward (3-3; Lakewood, OH) to score the first points of the game on a layup by Mark Murray.  The lead would be the only lead of the contest for the Eagles as St. Augustine (18-1; New Orleans, LA) went ona 10-3 run and held a 21-15 lead at the break.  The 15 halftime points by St. Edward ties for the third fewest points in an opening half in the 31-year history of the BBC,

St. Augustine went on to lead by as many as 13 in the second half and held off a late surge by St. Edward for the win.  The Eagles connected on just 29.4 percent from the field, includinga poultry 21.7 percent in the opening half.  St. Augustine was not much better at 33.3 percent in the first half but did connect on 52.9 percent in the final 16 minutes.

Sydie London came off of the bench to lead St. Augustine with 14 points.  St. Edward's Myles Hamilton led all scoreres with 16 points.
