Miami Senior scored a 61--51 come-from-behind victory over Gaffeney in an consolation bracket game of the 31st Annual Beach Ball Classic.
In the opening 16-minute half, Gaffney (6-4; Gaffney, SC) built a 14-point lead by scoring 16 of the game's first 18 points. The Indians scored the first six points before Miami Senior (11-2; Miami, FL) scored on Rashad Thompkins' layup with 10:50 on the clock. Gaffney then scored 10 unanswered to open its largest lead of the half at 16-2 on Kerry Williams' short jumper with 9:25 to play.
Miami Senior stormed back with a 21-6 run that gave the Stingarees a 23-22 lead with 1:14 remaining in the opening half. Following a 3-pointer by Gaffney's Michael Wright to regain the lead for the Indians, Allen Baez connected on a pair of free throws to send the action to the locker room tied at 25-25.
Miami Senior's Adriel Jimenez connected on a 3-point basket just 15 seconds into the second half and Willie Walker connected on a layup to give the Stingareers a 30-25 lead with 15:15 to play. The Stingarees would never trail again as they went on to build leads as large as 10 points.
Jeffrey Thomas led four Miami Senior players in double figures witrh 13 points. Jimenez added 12 points, while Baez and Walker added 11 points each. Baez also added five assists and five steals.
Kerry Williams came off of the bench to lead Gaffney with 19 points and 12 rebounds. L.J. Peak, who scored 40 points in the opening round, connected on just 5-of-14 from the field and 13 points for the Indians.
