Atlantic's (9-2) Ronni Williams put on a show all game but saved her best act for the last play. Williams, who scored a game-high 23 points, banked in a 3-pointer from about 27 feet at the buzzer to give the Sharks a 44-43 come-from-behind win over Center Point (Birmingham, AL).
The win advances Atlantic to the fifth place game of the 13th Annual Crescent Bank Holiday Invitational.
Center Point (10-4) took the lead for what appeared to be for good with 9:07 remaining in the opening half. The Eagles built their largest lead of nine points at 37-28 with 6:21 remaining in the second half.
Atlantic chipped away at the lead and tied the game on a questionable 3-pointer by Williams from the right side. The shot, which tied the game at 41-41 with 17 seconds on the clock, was seen as a two-point shot by everyone in the Mytrtle Beach Convention Center except for one official that put Williams about two feet behind where she actually took the shot from. Fellow officials and college coaches along press row sat in amazement of the call.
Dominique Patrick connected on a pair of free throws just four seconds later to give Center Point a 43-41 lead. Atlantic's Williams then almost dribbled around too long before launching what proved to be the game winner.
Center Point was led by Keonna Farmer and Dominique Patrick, who tallied 15 points each.
