Archbishop Carroll (Radnor, PA) opened the 2011 Crescent Bank Holiday Invitational with an impressive 59-40 victory over #19 ranked Goose Creek (SC).
Archbishop Carroll (2-0) bombed its way to a big lead early by connecting on six of its first 11 3-point field goal attempts to open a 27-8 advantage with 7:16 remaining in the opening half. The Patriots went on to lead by as many as 23 in the opening half and by 18 points at 33-15 at halftime.
Goose Creek (6-1) could get no closer than 17 points in the second half as Archbishop Carroll held the Gators to just 35.4 percent from the field. Archbishop Carroll also turned 12 Goose Creek turnovers into 20 points.
Meghan Creighton and Rachel Pearson led a very balanced Archbishop Carroll attach with 12 points each. The Patriots combined for 16 assists on their 20 made baskets. They also hit 10-of-10 from the free throw line and finished just one made 3-poiunter behind the tourney's single game team record of 10 by York (SC).
Brendysha Liner and Ashley Fields scored 10 points each for Goose Creek while University of North Carolina signee N'Dea Bryant was held to six points.
